In an informal setting at numerous locations across the Front Range of Colorado, Friends of Berthoud Pass provides a free public education class for winter backcountry travelers. Each session provides an overview of basic avalanche awareness, avoidance, forecasting, safe travel and self-rescue.
Topics such as route selection, hazard minimization, best practices, preparedness and terrain analysis are covered in a 2-hour presentation.
This class is a perfect introduction for novices and a great early season refresher for more experienced travelers. The class typically begins at 7:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) and is open to the public, FREE of charge. No registration is required.
Check out our FOBP Event Calendar for more details on the class dates, times and locations. We hope to see you there!
