The guys at the High Fives Foundation recently put together this excellent video on backcountry avalanche awareness. It features a series of informal, down-to-earth and matter-of-fact interviews with several young professional skiers and riders talking about avalanche safety and education.
A striking thing about this video is its focus on the all-important human factor of communication in the decision-making process, forcing us to pause and consider group dynamics and our motivations in the face of our skills and experience. Watching this video, it’s easy to imagine any of our own backcountry partners up there on the screen.
