Friends of Berthoud Pass is proud to continue our free, high quality avalanche awareness courses for the 2010-2011 season.

Under the direction of Bob Tomsky, aka ‘Bobski’, the former Berthoud Pass Ski Patrol Avalanche Training Director, we will provide backcountry travelers with a classroom overview of avalanche awareness, avoidance, rescue and forecasting methods and skills.

Topics such as route selection, hazard minimization, best practices, preparedness and terrain analysis will be covered in a three-hour classroom presentation.

The course is free and open to the public. Donations are kindly accepted. No registration is needed.

The class runs from 7:00 p.m. until approximately 10:00 p.m.

Full-day on-snow sessions at Berthoud Pass will be conducted in February 2011. You must attend a classroom presentation in order to qualify for the on-snow.
